It started in 2024 with just one special moment: a package of Berbere-spiced cashews and a warm mug of Ethiopian tea from Chef Adiam Tsegay of Mela Bistro in Oakland. That small gesture sparked something big. We realized that many independent restaurants, cafes, and markets offer thoughtful, story-rich holiday gifts… if only you know where to look.
So we combed through nearly 3,000 curated app listings that year and flagged over 415 places with remarkable holiday finds. In 2025? We’ve passed 500 (!!) and counting.
